A society of British psychologists has established that women rate men who can make them laugh more intelligent than the average Joes.

Experts suggest that women through the course of history have looked for men who are intelligent and knowing how to read a situation and crack a joke at the right moment is a great achievement for a man.

The study was participated in by 45 heterosexual females between 18 and 30 years of age. They were asked to rate self descriptions of men which were designed to be funny and not so funny.

The proponents invented the lives of 10 men and the ladies were asked to rate them as per intelligence, honesty, and the potential of engaging in a long term relationship or friendship.

The humor of the life description compositions were based on a study which looked into the funniest elements that make 18 to 30 year old females laugh.

Women rated the funny men as most likely prime candidates for friendship and long term relationship. They were also ranked as the most intelligent and most honest.

In previous studies, women were revealed to look into the potential of a male with regard to acquiring resources. This put a good salary or a good stable job on top of the list.

The study correlates the evolutionary patterns that may require a funny mate for females. Women may want funny males so hardships during their life together can be balanced out. Experts also point out to happiness leading to better creativity, innovativeness (anything from being a better entrepreneur to being better at choosing lingerie, haha!), and better health.

What can a single raisin do to someone? Aside from contributing to the fiber intake of one’s diet, a raisin may help someone fight their depression.

A team of researchers from the Monash University in Australia conducted a study that utilized techniques of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). The therapy modifies the approach of the traditional behavioral therapy by focusing on meditation like practices.

They used a raisin and some coined it as “raisin consciousness”. It may really look weird and unusual but they really used raisin and closely examined the dry fruit. Believe it or not, it may really contribute in getting rid of serious depression.

During the first session, the raisin is used to learn different meditation techniques that will help someone have more self awareness and consciousness of the physical world.

Contrasting from traditional therapy which trains people how to notice negative thoughts that may lead to depression, meeting these thoughts head on, and trying to overcome their content, MBCT is focused on not changing what the negative thoughts are but how one’s relationship to the thought is.

The MBCT will let someone meditate to avoid possible overpowering depression. For most people, it is very hard to take control of recurring thoughts that drag them to the spiral of negativity and depression but MBCT will teach them how to do just that.

The basis for the mindfulness techniques were first developed in Canada and the UK in the 1980s and later evolved to clinical techniques helping to address depression.

The university in Australia is conducting the trials on around 140 individuals and they are planning to expand their subject base so they further strengthen their claim that raisin can help with the fight on depression.

Life is not just work and life is not just fun. You may have all the obligation at home but you also have the tough demands at work. It is only through achieving balance between work and life will you be able to get rid of all the stress that they bring.

Here are some practical tips to help you along the way in stress reduction:

Office is for work and home is for family or self. With everything within reach through advanced technology, most people cannot put a dividing line between work and family time. If no boundaries will be determined, most likely both aspects of life will suffer.

Write down what you do or have to do. This gives you an idea what your load is like for a day or a week. If you are able to get rid some of the tasks that you don’t enjoy or just can’t really do, then the better.

Communicate well. Whether at home or in the office, making sure that you understand what the other is saying and vice versa then things should work out well.

Manage your time appropriately. It may not be your habit but it will be good if you create a schedule so you can gauge what you can finish in a day. You can also see how much you are devoting to family, work, or yourself.

Have fun. The best results at work or at home is achieved when everyone is having fun with what they are doing. Look at the brighter side of the ton of work you need to do or maybe a day with your mother-in-law.

Have a time for yourself. If it is your time to rest then rest. If you want to think then think. Knowing yourself is one key to your success.
