But you can make a healthier pizza by just changing the toppings you use.. Here are some of our suggestions

Goat cheese and Prosciutto Pizza

Instead of the usual sausages and pepperonis, use prosciutto instead. It will give you that meaty flavor and satisfaction sans the grease and the calories. To trim the calories down further, let go of the mozzarella and use goat cheese instead which can also provide all that creamy goodness.

Chicken barbecue pizza

Feeling guilty about the extra cheese and meatballs on your favorite pie? If you are craving for a dose of protein, you can use cheddar that is reduced in fat and and chicken breast without the skin of course plus a coat of barbecue sauce to give it a boost of flavor.

Spinach Pizza

Drop the thought of ordering some side salad with your pizza, instead sprinkle some greens on your pizza itself. You just need some blue cheese which you can crumble on your pizza and and use some spinach for toppings. The blue cheese can give the pizza a lot of flavor with less the fat you will get from all the mozzarella.

Greek Pizza

Here’s another good twist for your pizza craving. You just need some roasted bell peppers, grape tomatoes, olives, and some feta-cheese. This will be an explosion of flavor in your mouth without all the calories from your usual pizza.

p64 dietA new research done in Greece said that Mediterranean-style diet can actually help prevent heart ailments. This diet basically includes a lot of fruits, vegetables, oil, nuts, whole grains, legumes, and fish. The author, Dr. Christina Chrysohoou from the University of Athens said that the nutrients from these foods help shield people’s hearts from diseases.

However, there is less information available on how these foods can help people who already have existing heart diseases. Dr. Chrysohoou’s team then set off to monitor 1,000 patients who have suffered from chest pains and heart attacks in the past. The test subjects were also limited to individuals who suffered from these chest pains and heart attacks during light exertion or while they were at rest.

The patients’ diets were also rated, from 0 to 55, on how close their individual diets resembled the Mediterranean ideal. The study showed that those who have converted to the Mediterranean diet have a lowered risk of suffering from another heart attack. The risk is lowered by 31%, to be exact, compared to the time they were discharged from the hospital.

Those who scored the lowest in the rating are more likely to suffer from another heart attack within the year. For every point added to the 55-point score, the risk lowers by 12%. Researchers found that patients who have adapted the Mediterranean diet are least likely to overwork the pumping mechanism of their hearts, as well as suffer from cardiac remodeling, or the harmful changing of the heart’s structures.

One of the biggest things that I have noticed about lavender oil is the fact that it actually can calm you down.  Let’s say that you are at work and you are stressed out – just take out your little bottle of this beautiful liquid and I can promise that you are going to be calmed right the hell down.

Also, if you put lavender into your tub when you are taking a bath, I can promise that it will make your skin feel so soft and you will be so calmed and relaxed, it truly is crazy!

Cranberry Juice

If there is one juice that I think that has helped a lot of people in the long run, it has got to be cranberry juice.  If you are a person that has been suffering from urinary track infections all of your life, did you know that if you just start drinking a glass a day of cranberry juice it really can help you with those?  While it has not been proven that cranberry juice ‘cures’ UTI’s, it definitely does help them by altering the pH of the urine itself.

Cranberry juice is something that can be sour, however if it will help you with those painful infections, it is something that you should at least give a try.  Personally, I have been drinking cranberry juice at least once a day for years and I have never had a problem with UTI’s since I started!

So if you are looking for a natural way to stop your urinary track infections, cranberry juice is going to be it!

live-healthy-2You would be surprised at how effortless you can make your life healthier.  It is seriously easy to start being a little more active each day.  You do not have to buy a gym membership, you will not even need to alter your daily schedule all that much. There is nothing wrong with starting small and then building up.

For instance, turning off your television for a while — just once each week. Do something else, whether you take a walk by yourself or initiate an active game with your family.

For that matter, try to walk whenever you can. You can just park at the back of the parking lot and walk to your office, the store, et cetera. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. These are idea for those of us who can’t really afford a treadmill.

Even certain chores will make you more active. Use a push mower instead of a riding mower. Sweep the porch, shovel snow, vacuum, rake some grass or leaves.

Believe it or not, pacing can be helpful as well — hey, you’re moving, right? You can do it on the phone, you can do it virtually any time!
